Hi Blockheads!
Well, it's time for another round of Blockheads and I'm quite excited.
We are just a few blocks in and I am already a little behind! How is this possible?
Well I have been doing lots and lots of secret sewing, on a new fabric line, which I can start sharing from July 25. And then I had a trip to Dallas to teach at Modavation, which was an inspiring event held for shop owners. So I am afraid Blockheads was put on the backburner....but no more excuses, I am planning to catch up. Fingers crossed.
I have decided to combine a couple of my previous woven fabric ranges to create my Blockheads 6 quilt.

I have chosen greens from my Vista line and mixed it with silver and blacks from Panache.
The big blowsy rosy print on black is a cotton slub fabric from my Panache line. It is a little heavier texture than the wovens but will still work in a quilt top. I am using this on the borders and some setting triangles. I like to save the big prints to larger sections to make the most of the print.
You can also see the folded Fat 1/4's at the top of the photo. This is a bundle I found in my stash from Primitive Gatherings. The range is Urban Farmhouse Gatherings and I thought they would work as the backgrounds for all the blocks. I like to mix prints with wovens and these will add a little more movement and pattern to the quilt.

Here's a little closer look at the backgrounds from Urban Farmhouse Gatherings.
I will be choosing all different ones from the bundle to mix it up and help create that scrappy look.
The quilt will be unified by my choice of sashing and borders, so scrappy in the blocks is the way to go for me this time.

This photo is the inspiration for this fabric choice.
I have recently renovated and decorated a cottage on our property and took my colour choices from the Australian bush which surrounds us.
This is the main bedroom and I just loved the way the green, charcoal and off white worked together.
This colour combination has made the cottage a relaxing and soothing place to stay.

This is looking back towards the kitchen which has lower cabinets in a a colour called Seed. It is a light sage green and once again I have added just a little black in the chairs and island bench to ground the space. The addition of plants and artwork also brings out the green.
So this Blockheads quilt will probably end up in the cottage, because I think it will look really perfect with this decor.

Here is the bush outside, that was the original inspiration for all this colour selection.
The bark on the trunks of the trees is actually more dark grey than brown and the leaves are a lovely mix of different greens.
So thats my colour palette and fabric selection for Blockheads 6.
I am working on an original layout, so stay tuned for that. I have drawn it up by hand so I just need to wrangle it into InDesign and then I can publish that. I will add it to my Blog when it is ready.
In the meantime, I am looking forward to seeing all your blocks pop up on the BH6 group on Facebook. If you have any questions, please add to the comments and I will get back to you.
Happy sewing
Jenelle
